Learn how to market your small business with video

Share

Small business owners, take your website one step further and add a video showing off what you do.

Don’t know how?

A two-hour workshop on video for small business owners will be held at the Small Business Administration office in Glendale on May 8. The free workshop is one of a variety of educational programs for small businesses sponsored by the SBA’s Small Business Development Centers.

The workshop aims to help business owners use video to get noticed online and get more clicks. Don’t know what SEO is? Search engine optimization is one of the topics.

Israel Serna, the SDBC’s regional marketing and events coordinator, said you probably don’t want to make a traditional commercial about your business. A better way to go is to show off your expertise.

For example, if you own a fish taco restaurant, don’t make a video that tells everything about the restaurant. Instead, make it about how to bone fish, or how to pair wine with fish.

The workshop will also teach what to do with your video. It’s probably not a good idea to put it on your Web server because video files are so big. Vimeo is one of several video hosting services that you can link from.

The workshop also teaches how to use your video to market your business through your website and social media such as Facebook.

The workshop will be held from 10 a.m. to noon at the SBA office at 330 N. Brand Blvd., Suite 1200. Parking is $9.
