SAULT STE. MARIE -- The Sault Area Chamber of Commerce in Sault Ste. Marie recently hired James Parr, a former resident of the Petoskey-Harbor Springs area, as its executive director.Parr brings experience in management, sales and small business ownership. During his career, Parr has had responsibilities for staff management and development, event planning and organizational fundraising.
From 2004 until 2007, Parr worked with Bluegreen Corp. selling ski-in, ski-out condominiums at Boyne Mountain Resort, and had another local stint with Bluegreen in 2011-12.
Parr also has been the owner of Inside Out Cleaning Services and has participated in other business and community ventures in Northwest Michigan.
Some of Parr's most recent business experience is with The Antler's Restaurant in Sault Ste. Marie, where he researched local marketing strategies, trends and brand advancement initiatives.
A 2006 graduate of the Leadership Little Traverse leadership training program, Parr has a bachelor's degree in economics from Grand Valley State University and played collegiate hockey at Lake Superior State University.
