PETOSKEY -- Vascular surgeon Dr. Anton Sharapov recently joined the Petoskey Surgeons medical practice.
Sharapov obtained a degree in biochemistry and organic chemistry, then, continued his medical education and training at Memorial University of Newfoundland in St.John's, Newfoundland, Canada. He then served a vascular and endovascular surgery fellowship at Ottawa University in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
After moving to the United States in 2008, he practiced in Wisconsin and most recently in Kalamazoo, where he was on staff at Borgess and Bronson hospitals as well as clinical instructor in surgery with Michigan State University.
During the past four years, Sharapov practiced all aspects of general and vascular surgery. He has a special interest in minimally invasive vascular surgery. He also developed an interest and expertise in complex abdominal wall reconstruction and recurrent hernias.
Sharapov is married to Dr. Darcie Sharapova -- who recently began practicing locally as a family physician -- and has three children.
