Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith puts Bay Area home up for sale
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith, now three years removed from throwing his last pass for the San Francisco 49ers, has put his home in Monte Sereno, Calif., on the market for $3.999 million.
The French Villa-inspired home, built in 2010, features a polished Old World vibe with 100-year-old reclaimed wood beams, antique limestone floors and arched French doors and windows among the interior details.
Two floors of living include a formal dining room, a den/office, a wine refrigerator, four bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms in 4,650 square feet of space. A center-island kitchen topped by globed chandeliers opens to a breakfast area and a living room with wall fireplace.
French doors set off of the public areas give way to grounds containing a patio, an outdoor kitchen and a large expanse of grass. A fire ring and a bocce ball court complete the nearly half-acre setting.
Smith, 31, was drafted first overall by San Francisco in 2005 and spent his first seven seasons with the 49ers, making 75 starts. Following the 2012 season, he was dealt to the Chiefs, where he was a Pro Bowler in 2013.
He bought the house in 2011 for $3,627,500, records show.
