Dodgers’ Chase Utley lists Pennsylvania home once owned by Allen Iverson
Dodgers second baseman Chase Utley, nearly a year removed from the trade that sent him from Philadelphia to L.A., is ready to play ball for his home in Gladwyne, Pa. He’s listed the updated Colonial for sale at $3.495 million.
The brick two-story, built in 1998, was once home to retired basketball star Allen Iverson, who sold the property in 2006 for $2.85 million. Utley bought the home on roughly two acres three years ago for $2.325 million.
Recently renovated in a more contemporary style, the 8,141-square-foot house features subdued tones, modern light fixtures and light, wide-plank wood floors throughout.
Entered through a two-story foyer done up in crisp white wainscoting, the home opens on one side to a living room with a fireplace, and on the other to a formal dining room. A modern chef’s kitchen dressed in subway tile also sits off the front entry.
A family room has another fireplace and French doors that open to a rear deck, while a redone office sports coffered ceilings and built-in cabinetry. A lower-level space was converted into a man cave complete with a recreation room, exercise room and wine cellar.
Occupying its own second-story wing, the master suite has a sitting area, custom his and hers closets and a lavish master bathroom with floating mirrors and elaborate tile. There are six bedrooms and seven bathrooms in all.
Outdoors, the landscaped grounds center on a newly installed saltwater swimming pool and pool cabana. Sprawling lawns, trees and a play area fill out the setting.

Utley, now in his 14th big league season, agreed to a one-year, free-agent deal with the Dodgers in December. He previously helped the Phillies to a World Series title in 2008 and has made six All-Star teams.
