Dwight Manley and George Zimmer cut a deal on the Big Island
Prominent sports agent, real estate developer and coin collector Dwight Manley has purchased a parcel of land in Kamuela, Hawaii, for $1.725 million. The seller was George Zimmer, founder and former face of Men’s Wearhouse.
The 1.28-acre estate property sits above the 10th fairway of the Robert Trent Jones-designed golf course at the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel. The raised lot centers on wide views of the surrounding coastline and sandy beaches of Kauna’oa Bay.
The parcel originally came to market in 2013 with an asking price of $1.95 million, but was delisted in 2014. It previously sold for $2.25 million in 2007, records show.
Manley, president of the United Sports Agency, has represented such NBA stars as Karl Malone and Dennis Rodman, as well as the Jockeys Guild. He owns other property in Hawaii and Orange County.
Zimmer, 66, founded the Men’s Wearhouse retail chain in 1973 and served as chairman and company spokesman for four decades. He is currently developing Generation Tux, an e-commerce start-up tailored for tuxedo rentals, according to Fortune.
