NFL wideout Golden Tate hauls in custom San Diego home for $2.6 million

Detroit Lions wide receiver Golden Tate has made a play in San Diego, buying a home in the Santaluz golf course community for $2.599 million.

Built in 2007, the custom-built house evokes the mission style of Santa Barbara with its white-stucco exterior, clay roof tiles and arched windows.

Beyond the arched front entry is a great room topped with exposed beams, a double-island kitchen, a family room and a den. An executive office office has French doors that lead to a garden courtyard. There are two master suites for a total of five bedrooms and seven bathrooms in more than 6,300 square feet.

Pocketing doors on the main second floor connect a game/recreation room with an open-air lounge. Another covered patio space, complete with a wood-burning fireplace, sits off the main level.

Lawns and landscaping fill the grounds, which take in ocean, greenbelt and mountain views.

The property came on the market in March for $2.849 million, records show.

Eileen Anderson of Willis Allen Real Estate was the listing agent, according to the Multiple Listing Service. Chris Martin, also with Willis Allen, represented the buyer.

Tate, 29, won a Super Bowl with the Seattle Seahawks prior to joining the Lions as a free agent in 2014. The Notre Dame alum had 91 catches for 1,077 yards and four receiving touchdowns in 16 games for Detroit last season.
