Retired professional baseball player Jay Gibbons, now the hitting coach for the Great Lakes Loons, a Class-A affiliate of the Dodgers, has listed his home in Thousand Oaks for sale at $2.995 million.

Gibbons, who played college baseball at Cal State L.A. after graduating from Mayfair High in Lakewood, bought the house in 2012 for $1.8 million, records show.

Set on about 1.5 acres in the North Ranch area, the single-story contemporary sits raised from the street and is accessed by a double staircase with a fountain feature. A towering wall of windows underscores the double-height entry.

Open-space interiors done in wood floors and black walls feature vaulted ceilings, formal living and dining rooms and an updated kitchen complete with a wide center island and wine chiller.

The master suite sports a soaking tub and a glass-enclosed shower as well as a two-sided fireplace that divides the bedroom and a private sitting room. In all, there are five bedrooms and six bathrooms within the 5,650 square feet of living space.

Outside, the hilltop setting centers on a swimming pool and spa with a waterfall feature. Rolling lawns, an outdoor kitchen and a batting cage complete the park-like setting.

He joined Loons manager Luis Matos’ staff as the hitting coach this year.
