R.E.M.’s Peter Buck cashes in his condo in downtown Seattle
R.E.M. guitarist Peter Buck has found a fan of his Seattle condo, selling the high-rise home for $1.25 million.
That’s $225,000 less than he originally sought, but $9,000 more than he paid for the place in 2005, records show.
Found on the 20th floor of the Cristalla building, a 195-unit complex near Pike Place Market, the home takes in 180-degree views through walls of glass. A foyer full of built-ins marks the entrance to the unit, which holds two bedrooms and two bathrooms in 1,387 square feet.
Highlights include a bright living and dining area, as well as a wood-filled kitchen with a center island. Through sliding glass doors, the space expands to a balcony.
Tile pops up throughout the interior, lining the kitchen, the living room fireplace and the master suite bathroom.
For amenities, the building offers a gym, spa, rooftop lounge and concierge services.

Buck, 62, co-founded R.E.M. in 1980 alongside Michael Stipe, Mike Mills and Bill Berry. The band, whose name stands for rapid eye movement, has recorded 15 studio albums with hits such as “Losing My Religion,” “Everybody Hurts” and “Fall On Me.”
