Blue Jays pitcher Ricky Romero buys in Hermosa Beach
Major League Baseball pitcher Ricky Romero Jr., currently of the Toronto Blue Jays, has become the latest professional athlete to land in L.A.’s beach cities after buying a town house in Hermosa Beach for $1.94 million.
The Mediterranean-style home, built in 2006, features exposed beams, walnut flooring and mahogany doors. Spanning three stories, the 2,960 square feet of living space contains a great room with a stone fireplace, a media room, four bedrooms and three bathrooms.
A chef’s kitchen with a large island opens onto a terrace with panoramic city and ocean views. The master suite comes complete with an oversized tub, walk-in closet and dual vanities.
Privacy hedges and tall palms shade a patio area with a pool, spa, waterfall features and fire pit. A two-car garage and a side courtyard complete the South Bay setting.
The 29-year-old left-hander was part of the Cal State Fullerton team that captured the College World Series championship in 2004. He was drafted sixth overall by the Blue Jays in the 2005 amateur draft and has a career record of 51-45 in five seasons with the team.
The home originally came to market in June with an asking price of nearly $2 million, with the sale closing in early August, according to public records. Raju Chhabria of Shorewood Realtors was the listing agent. Genaro Moreno of Century 21 All-Stars represented the pitcher in the sale.
Romero also maintains a residences in Downey and Palm Harbor, Fla.
