YouTube content czar Robert Kyncl buys Hancock Park villa
Robert Kyncl, the head of television and film for Google Inc.’s YouTube, has paid $7.665 million for a home in Hancock Park.
The updated Mediterranean, built in 1942, occupies nearly half an acre on a corner lot with a five-bedroom main residence, a guest house, formal gardens and a pool with two spas. The main home includes large formal living spaces, a library and eight fireplaces in about 7,800 square feet.
Among amenities is a theater room and a bar room that opens to a covered patio with an outdoor fireplace and al fresco dining area. Through French doors, the expanded master suite opens onto an upper lanai with another fireplace.
Outdoors, the landscaped grounds center on a large pool. The guest house, complete with living room, kitchen and bedroom en suite, sits above the adjacent garage.
Kyncl joined Google in 2010 as vice president of content partnerships. He previously spent seven years at Netflix, where he helped amass television and film content for the company’s popular on-demand streaming service.
The property originally came to market in May with an ask of $8.5 million, records show. The home previously went for $1.85 million in 2004.
Elizabeth Malloy of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage was the listing agent. Maria Gomez, also with Coldwell Banker, represented Kyncl in the sale.
