Selena Gomez and French Montana make a connection in Calabasas

Share

Calabasas residents, wave goodbye to one celebrity and say hello to another. Singer-actress and Justin Bieber obsession Selena Gomez has sold her home in a gated community for $3.3 million. The buyer? Rapper French Montana.

Reached by a long driveway, the estate has a Mediterranean-style main house with five fireplaces, a one-bedroom guesthouse and a four-car garage. A cobblestone motor court and fountain sit at the entrance to the home.

Vibrant hues, eccentric fixtures and stone floors are common themes throughout the 7,786 square feet of interiors, which include six bedrooms and seven bathrooms. A formal living room offers an unblemished look, with crisp white furnishings and beige wallpaper, and a two-story dining room pairs green-clad walls with purple curtains and ceilings.

The master suite, painted a rich purple, has a sitting area and a boutique-inspired closet.

There’s also a theater, a gym, a kitchen with an island, and a custom wine cellar done in slate and stone.

Outdoors, the palm-topped setting centers on a swimming pool and spa with a waterfall feature. A cabana with an outdoor kitchen and brick pizza oven sits across from the pool.

The 3-acres-plus compound was listed last year for as much as $4.495 million. Gomez bought the property two years ago for $3.69 million, records show.

Joshua and Matthew Altman of Douglas Elliman were the listing agents.

The 23-year-old Gomez was on the television shows “Wizards of Waverly Place” (2007-12) and “Barney & Friends” (2002-04). Among her film credits are “Hotel Transylvania” (2012), “Spring Breakers” (2012) and the recently released comedy “Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising.” She also made a cameo in last year’s “The Big Short.”

She has recorded three albums as part of Selena Gomez & the Scene. Her second solo album, “Revival,” debuted last year.

Montana, 31, a prolific mixtape artist, has released more than a dozen compilations 2007. His second studio album, “Mac & Cheese: The Album,” is due out later this year.

She has designs to sell

Renowned designer Barbara Barry has listed her home in Beverly Hills for sale at $6.995 million — offering a glimpse inside the residence that has served as her personal design laboratory of sorts for nearly a decade.

Tucked behind hedges and gates, the villa-style home is fronted by a motor court. The broad front of the house is reached by tapered steps that end at double doors flanked by a pair of oval windows. Rows of double-casement windows and French doors with black shutters and Juliet balconies wrap the exterior.

Inside, the 5,000 square feet of refined space offers a lesson in Barry’s signature touch. Layers of pale colors and subtle textures combine with furniture from her licensed collections to create an atmosphere that is as soothing as it is restrained. Art-deco molding offers a nod to a bygone era.

A circular foyer, formal living and dining rooms, a family room, a library and a chef’s kitchen with a large marble-topped island reside on the main floor. Front and rear staircases connect the two-story home.

Upstairs, the master suite comprises a series of intimate spaces. There’s a small sitting area with a marble fireplace, an office and a spa-like bathroom that overlooks the grounds. A boutique-inspired walk-in closet sits hidden behind a bedroom wall, and French doors open to a private terrace.

There are four bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms in all.

Outdoors, a sea of green landscaping washes over various patios, sitting areas and an oval swimming pool. A two-car garage sits off the entrance to the home.

Thomas Glabman of Hilton & Hyland, an affiliate of Christie’s International Real Estate, and Ernie Carswell of Teles Properties share the listing. The house can be purchased furnished for $8 million.

Barry is an award-winning interior designer who formed Barbara Inc. in 1985. She is the author of “Barbara Barry: Around Beauty.”

The case for a new space

Actor Barrett Foa, who appears on the CBS military drama “NCIS: Los Angeles,” has bought a modern home in trendy Silver Lake for $1.345 million.

Completed this year, the boxy two-story has a minimalist vibe with a broad facade, clean lines and walls of windows. A red-painted entry lends a splash of color to the gray-hued home.

White-walled interiors are light and bright, with soft oak floors and meticulously placed clerestory windows. A living room, a dining area, a contemporary kitchen, a media room, two bedrooms and three bathrooms lie within roughly 2,100 square feet of open-plan space.

The master suite has a walk-in closet and a pocket door that opens onto a second-floor balcony.

A patio and outdoor dining area sit off the lower level. Drought-tolerant landscaping and a carport complete the grounds.

The house came to market in March for $1.55 million and was more recently listed at $1.399 million, records show.

Shawn Kormondy of Keller Williams Beverly Hills was the listing agent. Elisa Ritt of Nourmand & Associates, Beverly Hills, represented Foa.

Foa, 38, has television credits that include “Numb3rs,” “Entourage” and “The Closer.” He has been a regular on “NCIS: Los Angeles” since the series began in 2009.

Composers look to record a sale

Oscar-winning composer and music producer Atticus Ross and his wife, composer Claudia Sarne, are looking to drum up interest for their longtime home in Hollywood Hills West. They’ve put the rustic three-story, which features a pair of recording studios, among other things, up for sale at $1.695 million.

Perched along the hillside in the Kirkwood Bowl area, the home was built in 1987 using materials salvaged from a convent in downtown L.A. and later renovated and expanded. Rich cedar beams, wood-paneled walls and an entry lined in Saltillo tile lend a clean, cabin-like feel to the interiors.

An open living room with vaulted ceilings and a fireplace flows casually into a dining area topped with market-style pendant lights. Around the corner, an updated kitchen offers a more contemporary look, with a subway tile backsplash and stainless-steel appliances.

An office, a loft, a rec room/man cave, three bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms also lie within the roughly 3,500 square feet of living space. The master suite has a glass-enclosed steam shower and a fireplace.

Outdoors, an exterior staircase connects balconies extending off each level. Views take in the surrounding canyon and mountains.

Ross, 48, has film credits that include “The Book of Eli” (2010), “Broken City” (2013) and “Gone Girl” (2014). He and musician/producer Trent Reznor won an Academy Award for best original score for the 2010 film “The Social Network.”

Sarnes also worked on “The Book of Eli” and “Broken City,” as well as the crime thriller “Triple 9” (2016).

The couple bought the house more than a decade ago for $812,500, property records show.

Richard Stearns and Caroline Berkman Lewis of Partners Trust are the listing agents.

An island rose accepted

Mike Fleiss has found a match on the North Shore. The creator and producer of reality TV series “The Bachelor” and “The Bachelorette” has sold his bluff-front retreat in Kauai, Hawaii, for $11.4 million.

A typical “Bachelor” season runs 12 weeks, but the match between seller and home buyer was made in about half that time. The sprawling compound, custom built for Fleiss this year, came to market in March for $12.85 million and was under contract in about five weeks, records show.

The swift sale is representative of a North Shore market that has “ramped up tremendously” in recent months, particularly in the high-end sector, according to listing agent Neal Norman of Hawaii Life Real Estate Brokers. “Properties like this, [which] are beautifully designed and are considered triple-A estates, are snapped up quickly.”

Norman also represented the buyer in the sale.

Set behind gates on 7.3 scenic acres, the estate centers on a Balinese-inspired main house designed by Gary Tobey & Design Concepts and built by Paradise Pacific Homes. A matching 500-square-foot guesthouse and a separate garage also lie within the grounds.

Common areas featuring bamboo-lined ceilings and hardwood floors include open living and dining rooms, a contemporary kitchen, six bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms. Modern furnishings custom-made for the home were included in the sale.

Walls of glass doors open to a series of hardwood decks crossing over a 100-foot saltwater swimming pool and connecting the structures and outdoor spaces. A private footpath leads to the beach below.

Views stretch from the ocean up to the historic Kilauea Lighthouse.

The 52-year-old Fleiss is known for creating the popular dating game show series “The Bachelor,” which just wrapped up its 20th season. Among his other credits are the series “High School Reunion” and the films “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” (2003) and “Hostel” (2005).
