Tennis champ Pete Sampras sells Lake Sherwood-area compound
Tennis legend Pete Sampras and his wife, actress Bridgette Wilson-Sampras, have quietly sold their Lake Sherwood-area compound near Thousand Oaks in an off-market deal. The purchase price was not disclosed.
The hilltop estate had been listed at $19.95 million but was not on the market at the time of the sale.
The gated contemporary sits on 20 acres with 360-degree views, a north-south tennis court and a swimming pool. The more than 13,000-square-foot main house has a combined theater and game room plus a separate poker room.
Including the 1,200-square-foot guesthouse and the 2,000-square-foot detached gym, the property has seven bedrooms, 12 bathrooms and 16,177 square feet of living space.
Sampras, 42, won 14 Grand Slam men’s singles titles and held the No. 1 ranking for 286 weeks. Since he officially retired from the sport in 2003, he has beaten Roger Federer in an exhibition match and John McEnroe in the Outback Champions Series.
Wilson-Sampras, 40, had major roles in “The Wedding Planner” (2001), “I Know What You Did Last Summer” (1997) and “Billy Madison” (1995).

Tesla chief can walk there
Elon Musk, who heads electric-car company Tesla Motors, has shelled out $6.75 million on the former Gene Wilder estate in Bel-Air.
The sellers are financier Paul Kessler and his wife, attorney and businesswoman Diana Derycz-Kessler, who invest in real estate.
The promontory home on three-quarters of an acre, overlooking the 13th green and 14th fairway of the Bel-Air Country Club, was described in the listing as an “opportunity to develop a view property.” The existing ranch-style home of 2,800 square feet has three bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms. There’s also a kidney-shaped swimming pool and a guest cottage.
This is not Musk’s first venture into the desirable neighborhood. The billionaire entrepreneur and inventor earlier paid $17 million for a 20,248-square-foot mansion across the street.
Musk, 42, is also chief executive of rocket maker SpaceX. He co-founded the Internet payment company that would become PayPal.
Wilder, 80, is known for his roles in such Mel Brooks films as “Young Frankenstein” and “Blazing Saddles.”

Modern family, vintage home
Jesse Tyler Ferguson must not be too concerned about anyone discovering his recent purchase of a home in Los Feliz for $4.55 million. The “Modern Family” actor has already invited the neighbors over to get acquainted and show off the Spanish Colonial Revival house.
Built in 1928, the renovated home features a two-story entry, 25-foot cathedral ceilings in the living room, four bedrooms, 4.5 bathrooms and nearly 5,000 square feet of living space.
Period details include stained glass, wall nooks, interior arches and wrought-iron work.
Colorful tile fountains, a swimming pool, a cabana and an outdoor fireplace are among features of the more than half-acre lot.
Ferguson, 38, also has appeared this year on the television series “Web Therapy” and “Conan.”
Tracey Clarke of Sotheby’s International Realty was the listing agent, according to the Multiple Listing Service. Jennifer Akbari of Coldwell Banker represented Ferguson.
His spot’s along the shoreline
James Keach, who produced and acted in “Walk the Line,” has bought a condominium in Santa Monica for $4.4 million.
The remodeled unit has high ceilings, multiple terraces and patios, a fireplace, an eat-in kitchen, a dining room, three bedrooms, three bathrooms and 2,817 square feet of living space. The complex, built in 1990, features a swimming pool and gym. There are ocean and courtyard views.
Keach, 65, is executive producer of an upcoming documentary on country music legend Glen Campbell. He is the brother of actor Stacy Keach Jr.
James Keach and actress Jane Seymour announced in April that they would be getting a divorce.

New leading lady sought
Janet Leigh’s shower is for sale. No, not the one in which the actress was killed in “Psycho,” but several in her former home in Beverly Crest.
The showers are part of 4.5 bathrooms, four bedrooms and close to 5,000 square feet of remodeled living space priced at $7.95 million. The contemporary estate encompasses more than half an acre and sits behind gates.
Features include a two-sided rock-wall fireplace in the living room, an eat-in kitchen and a detached office.
A lighted tennis court, a swimming pool, a built-in barbecue and a cabana complete the grounds.
Leigh, who died in 2004 at age 77, starred in “Touch of Evil” (1958) and “The Manchurian Candidate” (1962) but is perhaps best remembered for the shower scene from “Psycho” (1960).
