Condos don’t hold a candle to Elton John’s new place
Rock icon Elton John and his partner, David Furnish, have listed their two condominiums in West Hollywood for sale, according to the Multiple Listing Service.
The smaller of the two, with one bedroom, 11/2 bathrooms and 1,151 square feet of living space, is priced at $1.6 million. The larger, with the same number of bedrooms and baths in 1,831 square feet, is listed at $3.5 million.
The Sierra Towers units, which have city and ocean views, could be combined. The building has 24-hour security, a doorman, an outdoor pool and a gym.
The pair recently bought a contemporary house in Beverly Hills that had been listed at $7.695 million but was withdrawn from the market before closing. It can be weeks or months before a sales price appears on the public record.
The remodeled house includes four bedrooms, 51/2 bathrooms and more than 4,200 square feet of interior space. The nearly half-acre site features a swimming pool, lawn, a cabana and patios.
John, 65, has won multiple Grammy Awards. He shares an Oscar for “The Lion King” song “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” and won a Grammy for singing it. Among the singer-songwriter-composer’s hits are “Candle in the Wind,” “Your Song” and “Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting.”
Furnish, 49, directed “Elton John: Tantrums & Tiaras” (1997). He was an announcer and executive producer of the television series “Spectacle: Elvis Costello With …” (2008-11).
Andrew Clark and Barry Peele of Sotheby’s in Beverly Hills are the listing agents for the condominiums. Jade Mills was the listing agent on the Beverly Hills house.
‘Lost’ star can be found in Oregon
“Lost” star Matthew Fox has listed his crash pad in Manhattan Beach for sale at $1.995 million.
The Spanish-style home, built in 1927, features coved ceilings, arched doorways, two corner fireplaces, decorative tile stair risers and a wooden stairway with carved railings. The nearly 2,500-square-foot house includes a large family room, four bedrooms and two bathrooms. There are ocean views from the upper-level rooms and balcony.
Fox, 45, played hero Jack Shephard on “Lost” (2004-10). This year he will star in the thriller “Alex Cross.” Fox also will star in the historic epic “Emperor,” in which Tommy Lee Jones will play Gen. Douglas MacArthur.
Public records show he bought the property in 1999 for $880,000. Fox used the house as his personal residence until moving to Hawaii while filming the television series. He has since relocated to the Bend, Ore., area.

Mel B sells Tarzana compound
Singer Melanie Brown — Scary Spice from her days with the Spice Girls — and her husband, producer Stephen Belafonte, have sold their Tarzana compound for $3 million to Brooke Mueller, the former Mrs. Charlie Sheen, public records show.
The renovated country French-style house features Venetian chandeliers, a gym, five bedrooms and eight bathrooms in 8,604 square feet of living space. The chateau and a swimming pool sit on more than half an acre. Outdoor living spaces include a dining room with chandeliers, a living room and a cabana. Brown and Belafonte added the gym, a detached recording studio and a detached movie theater in what the listing said was a $1-million renovation.
Mel B, as she is also known, joined the Spice Girls in 1994, and the “Spice” album started their journey to becoming the bestselling female group in music history. She released her first solo album, “Hot,” in 2000.
Brown, 36, has acted on stage and in film, and is a judge for the Australian version of “The X Factor.” She has written and performed soundtracks for TV shows including “Live From Studio Five” (2009 and 2010). She also has appeared on “Dancing With the Stars” (2007-10) and “Loose Women” (2009-11).
Belafonte was a guest judge last year on “The X Factor” and produced “Mel B: It’s a Scary World” (2010) for television. His film work includes “The Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call — New Orleans” (2009) and “Mutant Chronicles” (2008).
The pair bought the gated San Fernando Valley home two years ago for $3.159 million and had listed it in January at $3.45 million.

Hip-hopping into the Hollywood Hills
Alex da Kid is making tracks to the Hollywood Hills West area. The hip-hop producer and songwriter, born Alexander Grant, bought a house there for $4.135 million.
The contemporary Mediterranean includes an office/billiards room, living and family rooms, cathedral ceilings, archways, four bedrooms and 41/2 bathrooms in 5,200 square feet. City, mountain and ocean views can be seen from the open-plan kitchen, window seats near the living room fireplace and even from the four-car garage. There is a swimming pool with a spa.
Grant, 28, has worked with recording artists including Eminem, Rihanna and Dr. Dre.
The seller was BeBe Stores founder Manny Mashouf, who bought the property in 2006 for $4.264 million.
Susan Del Prete of Nelson Shelton & Associates was the listing agent and Mary Swanson and Justin Mandile of Sotheby’s International Realty represented the buyer, according to the Multiple Listing Service.
‘Ninja Turtles’ co-creator comes out of shell
“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” co-creator Kevin Eastman has listed a house in West Los Angeles for $1.69 million.
The contemporary Mediterranean, built in 2005, features high ceilings, archways, a bar with a wine refrigerator, four bedrooms and 21/2 bathrooms. French doors open to an enclosed front patio, a front-facing balcony and the backyard. Behind the house sits a saltwater pool, a flagstone deck, a pool house/office and lawn. The cobblestone driveway is gated.
The comic book writer and artist’s Ninja Turtles, created with collaborator Peter Laird, became a cartoon series starting in the late 1980s. Live-action movies and animated films followed, including “TMNT” (2007) and “Turtles Forever” (2009). Another series is set for this year and a movie in 2013.
Eastman, 49, bought the property in 2008 for $1.84 million, according to the Multiple Listing Service.
