Evidence reveals ‘Elementary’ star wants out of L.A. home
Here’s what we’ve deduced: Actor Jonny Lee Miller, who stars in “Elementary,” and his wife, actress Michele Hicks, have listed a Los Angeles home for sale at $1.659 million.
The Spanish Revival-style house, built in 1936, features a beamed cathedral ceiling in the living room, a formal dining room, three bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms and 2,832 square feet of living space.
A sun room runs the length of the house and opens to a balcony and terrace. Another terrace off the master bedroom has stairs leading to the garden below, which includes an oak tree and lawn.
Miller, 40, has played Sherlock Holmes on the mystery series since it started last year and starred in “Eli Stone” (2008-09). He was on a season of “Dexter” in 2010 and in the films “Hackers” (1995) and “Trainspotting” (1996).
Hicks, 40, was in the series “The Shield” (2004-08) and “Heist” (2006). She will star in the upcoming thriller “The Adventures of Beatle” and the horror film “2 Bedroom 1 Bath.”
They bought the property in 2009 for $1.56 million from soap star Michelle Stafford and leased it out last year, according to the Multiple Listing Service.
The Times’ Mapping L.A. database considers the house to be in the Hollywood Hills. The MLS, however, places it in the Oaks area of Los Feliz where Brad Pitt is among the neighbors.

Ellen is rearranging home collection
Talk show host Ellen DeGeneres updates her home collection as often as others change their wardrobes. She recently snapped up a $26.5-million estate in Santa Barbara County, featured her Hidden Hills ranch in Elle Décor (in advance of re-listing it perhaps?) and now is trying to sell a pied-a-terre in Beverly Hills at $899,000.
The 1,683-square-foot corner penthouse features an entry gallery (translation: hall) opening to a living and dining area, an eat-in kitchen, a laundry room, two bedrooms, two bathrooms and mountain views. There’s also a “paparazzi-proof” doorman, according to Zillow, which first spotted the listing.
Comedienne DeGeneres, 55, and spouse Portia De Rossi, 40, bought the property in 2010 for $835,000, public records show.

Property comes with its own park
Actors Chris Pratt and Anna Faris have listed their home in Hollywood Hills West for sale at $2.295 million.
The Midcentury Modern-style house features an open floor plan and walls of glass that open to gardens and a swimming pool area with fire pits and a fountain. There are three bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms and 2,563 square feet of living space. The nearly one-acre property includes a boccie court and trails and steps through Zen-inspired landscaping.
Pratt, 33, is a regular on “Parks and Recreation” (2009-present). He was in “Everwood” (2002-06) and appeared on “The O.C.” in 2006 and 2007.
Faris, 36, is known for the “Scary Movie” series and starred in “The House Bunny” (2008).

‘Restless’ soap star lists Malibu estate
Soap opera actress Tracey E. Bregman has listed her Malibu estate for sale at $5.5 million.
Casa de la Bella Mare sits behind gates on about 1.8 ocean-view estate acres. A tree-lined driveway leads to the 7,148-square-foot Mediterranean house, which features a grand hallway entrance with a skylight, an office with built-in desks, six bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms. The formal living and dining rooms open to a swimming pool with spa and an outdoor entertainment area.
Bregman, 50, is known for her roles on “The Young and the Restless” (1984-present) and “The Bold and the Beautiful” (1993-2007).
The property last sold in 2004 for $3.55 million, public records show.

Equestrian compound changes hands
Merv Griffin’s retreat in La Quinta has sold for $7 million.
The 39-acre equestrian compound includes a racetrack, a 5,000-square-foot Moroccan-style main house, four casitas, three one-bedroom staff quarters and apartments at both ends of the 16-stall stables for a total of 14 bedrooms and 12 bathrooms.
The estate was developed by L.A.-based Griffin in 1986 as a desert retreat for entertaining and work. He raised Arabian horses and, later, thoroughbreds. Other features include an infinity pool and a 2.5-acre fishing lagoon.
Griffin, who died in 2007 at 82, was a singer, talk show host and television producer. He created game shows including “Jeopardy” and “Wheel of Fortune.”
The property was listed three years ago at $14.5 million.
