Money talks to daytime show host Michael Strahan
Although talk show host and football analyst Michael Strahan was initially a reluctant seller, a $3-million gain in less than a year helped him overcome his hesitancy.
Strahan and his fiancee, television personality Nicole Murphy, have sold their Bel-Air home for $11 million in an all-cash deal. The couple had planned to build their dream house on the 1-acre site, which they bought last year for $7.8 million.
They had torn down most of the existing 1926 Mediterranean home. But offers started coming in on the property and the right dollar figure finally changed their minds.
Strahan, 41, is the co-host of “Live! With Kelly and Michael.” The defensive end played for the New York Giants his entire NFL career, setting a record for sacks in a single season and retiring in 2008 after winning Super Bowl XLII. He starred in the 2009 TV series “Brothers.”
Bob Hurwitz of Hurwitz James Co. represented Strahan and Murphy. Josh Altman and Matt Altman of Hilton & Hyland/Christie’s International Real Estate represented the buyer in the off-market transaction.
Cher flexes home-buying muscles
Cher is back in the real estate news, or at least her trust is, this time buying a home in the Beverly Crest area for $2,145,355.
The two-story country English house, built in 1957, was once owned by another celebrity — actor Ed O’Neill and his wife, Catherine Rusoff. They sold the home in 2007.
The gated home features wood-plank floors, four bedrooms, three bathrooms and 3,089 square feet of living space. The master suite, which has canyon views, includes two fireplaces.
Cher, 67, gained fame as part of the 1960s duo Sonny and Cher. She won an Oscar for her role in “Moonstruck” (1987).
The property previously sold three years ago for $1.515 million.
Amy Byer and Thomas Davila of Keller Williams in Beverly Hills were the listing agents. Rayni Romito and Branden Williams of Hilton & Hyland/Christie’s International Real Estate represented the buyer.
Alt rocker lists Brentwood digs
Joe Hahn of the alt rock band Linkin Park has put his home in Brentwood up for sale at $4.6 million.
Set on more than half an acre in a gated community, the contemporary house features panoramic city and ocean views, floor-to-ceiling windows, solar power, an elevator, five bedrooms, six bathrooms and 6,458 square feet of living space. There is a three-car garage.
Hahn, 36, is the DJ and programmer for the band, which has sold more than 50 million albums worldwide and has a Facebook following of 55 million-plus fans. The group is on tour in Asia.
Public records show Hahn bought the property in 2006 for $3.975 million.

Late actress’ home sells in Encino
The longtime home of the late actress Bonnie Franklin has sold in Encino for $2.1 million.
The one-story traditional, priced at $1.945 million, went into escrow 10 days after coming on the market and closed in a little more than a month. Features include a family room, a den/office with a fireplace, three more fireplaces, three en suite bedrooms, an additional bathroom and 3,771 square feet of living space.
The lot of more than three quarters of an acre includes a swimming pool with a brick surround.
Franklin, who died in March at 69, starred on the late-’70s and early-’80s sitcom “One Day at a Time.” She had a recurring character last year on “The Young and the Restless.”
Harriet Cameron and Andrew Spitz of Prudential California Realty represented the buyers. Dick and Stephanie Franklin of Gibson International Realty represented the estate.

The redone 1935 bungalow features an open kitchen/family room, two bedrooms, two bathrooms and 1,687 square feet of living space. The gated property includes a covered spa, fire pit and a changing room with bathroom.
