Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon pull Bel-Air home off market
Perhaps not realizing they would receive so much media attention, singer-songwriter superstar Mariah Carey and her husband, Nick Cannon, pulled their Bel-Air home from the Multiple Listing Service only four days after listing it for sale at $12.995 million.
The home was listed on the MLS as a “celebrity estate.” Would-be buyers and their agents can consider themselves on notice that the couple have designs on selling.
Their gated three-acre property centers on a Hamptons-inspired mansion with canyon, city and reservoir views. By the looks of it, the pair have put a lot of attention and money into updating and renovating the place.
The 11,750 square feet of interior space continues the traditional vibe of the exterior with high ceilings, wood floors and French doors. Also under the roof are a basketball court, a gym, a home theater, seven bedrooms and nine bathrooms. One of the six fireplaces is in the kitchen.
An expansive hall for entertaining called an Aspen room has a vaulted beamed ceiling, walls of windows, a massive stone fireplace and room for several hundred guests.
Not surprisingly, a music studio is among improvements the couple made since buying the house five years ago for $6.975 million.
The grounds include a putting green, a swimming pool and parking for more than 20 vehicles.
The prolific Carey, known for her remarkable vocal range, has won five Grammy Awards for her work, including the song “We Belong Together,” “The Emancipation of Mimi” album and Best New Artist in 1990.
The actor-singer-multi-talented Cannon has written for several television shows bearing his name as well as “Incredible Crew” (2012-13). He has hosted his own shows and “America’s Got Talent” (2009-13).

A sale was in the cards
Constance Zimmer of “House of Cards” put her home in the Hollywood Hills up for sale in December at $1.175 million and was in escrow in 10 days. The 1940s house has sold for $1.225 million.
The early contemporary of about 1,400 square feet was updated during the actress’ ownership and has a retro vibe. Walls of glass in the vaulted-ceiling living room provide access to a wraparound deck with views of the city.
The two-bedroom, 1.75-bathroom house has another, lower-level deck with a secluded hot tub.
Zimmer, 43, is part of the cast this year of “The Newsroom” and “Grey’s Anatomy.” She will have a role in the midseason sitcom “Growing Up Fisher” and will guest star in the pilot of “Complications.”
Her earlier television series work includes “Entourage,” “Love Bites” and “Boston Legal.”
Public records show that Zimmer bought the property in 2006 for $1.149 million.

Pitcher is ready for a change-up
Major League Baseball pitcher Barry Zito has listed a house in Hollywood Hills West for $4.375 million.
Part of a larger real estate portfolio, the 1962 contemporary sits in the celebrity-coveted Bird Streets area.
The 4,366 square feet of living space features an open plan design with vaulted ceilings and walls of glass revealing cityscape and ocean views.
There are four bedrooms and six bathrooms. The family and living rooms, as well as the master bedroom, have fireplaces.
Zito was with the San Francisco Giants until last year, when his $126-million contract expired.
The free agent bought the property in 2010 for $2.155 million. Sharon Hills of Kobeissi Properties is the listing agent.
Zito also recently put a home in Marin County up for lease at $28,500 a month. Set on two acres, that house has four bedrooms and seven bathrooms in 7,116 square feet of living space. Outdoor amenities include a swimming pool, a fireplace and a terrace.
Studio City home has following
If ever a property had that deja vu feeling, it’s the Studio City estate that just came on the market at $6.25 million.
That’s not because the Italianate two-story has been listed before. The villa has more film credits than many actors.
