For $50 million, Bundchen and Brady will throw in the moat
Gisele Bundchen, supermodel and actress, and her husband, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, have put their mega-estate in Brentwood on the market at $50 million.
The country French chateau is reached by a winding driveway that ends at a cobblestone motor court. Adding to the Old World ambience created by architect Richard Landry is a moat-like koi pond that meanders alongside the mansion.
The limestone-clad house incorporates reclaimed ceiling beams, salvaged tile, antique doors and marble fireplace surrounds. The 13,890 square feet of living space includes a center hall, a den, a library/study, a gym, a sauna, five bedrooms and nine bathrooms. There are seven fireplaces.
The four acres of grounds contain waterfalls, ponds, an infinity pool, lawns, gardens and pathways. A gray-water system is used for irrigation. Solar panels supply the home’s electricity.
Brady bought the property for $11.75 million the year before his 2009 marriage to Bundchen. They spent about four years developing it for use as their off-season retreat.
“We built this house as a sanctuary for our family,” Brady told Architectural Digest last fall, “a place where we can enjoy being together.”
Bundchen, 33, starred on the series “Gisele & the Green Team” (2010-11) and has appeared frequently on talk shows. She has been on the covers of “Vogue,” “Vanity Fair” and “Allure,” among other magazines.
Brady, 36, has been in five Super Bowls with the Patriots and earned three rings. He has won multiple most valuable player awards for the National Football League and the Super Bowl since 2000, when he joined the team.

Old-school home buyer
Actor Vince Vaughn is the buyer of former USC football coach Lane Kiffin’s house, which recently sold in Manhattan Beach for $6.5 million.
The 7,308-square-foot contemporary Craftsman home, built in 2002, is yet another notch in Vaughn’s real estate belt. He bought a Colonial-style home in La Cañada Flintridge last year for $3.9 million.
The Manhattan Beach house features vaulted ceilings, a stone fireplace, six bedrooms and seven bathrooms. The half-acre lot has a swimming pool and spa, a guesthouse and an outdoor kitchen.
Vaughn, who turned 44 on Friday, has starred in such films as “The Internship” (2013), “The Break-Up” (2006) and “Old School” (2003). He will star in the comic film “Business or Pleasure,” set for release this fall.
Kiffin, 38, is offensive coordinator for the University of Alabama Crimson Tide in Tuscaloosa.

What, no tennis court?
Venus Williams has sold a home in Hollywood Hills West for $1.7 million.
The midcentury post-and-beam house, built in 1955, features a foyer, a den, an updated kitchen, three bedrooms and two bathrooms. Tax records show the house has 1,528 square feet of living space.
The nearly half-acre lot has a swimming pool. No tennis court, however.
Williams, 33, is a former Women’s Tennis Assn. No. 1-ranked singles player. She won her 45th WTA title in February at the Dubai Championships. In addition to seven Grand Slam singles titles, she has four Olympic gold medals.
She bought the property for $1.9 million in 2005, public records show.

Frontman ready to make tracks
Maynard James Keenan, the frontman for metal groups Tool, a Perfect Circle and Puscifier, has listed his home in Hollywood Hills at $2.495 million.
The Mediterranean-style house, built in 2000, features elaborate wooden ceilings, a bar, a den, a wine-tasting room, two fireplaces, four bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms in 3,750 square feet of living space. The 11,000-square-foot grounds have a swimming pool and waterfalls. There are canyon, mountain and city views.
A separate guesthouse could be used as a recording studio.
Keenan reworked some of the newly built home before moving into it in 2001. The Zen-inspired interiors display his affinity for design and color while showcasing artifacts he collected worldwide during his years on tour.
Keenan, 49, is reported to be somewhat reclusive, which may be a factor in why the privacy and seclusion of the home appealed to him.
He has written soundtracks for films including “End of Watch” (2012), “Resident Evil: Afterlife” (2010) and “The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3” (2009). Tool won Grammys in 1997 and 2001 for best metal performance.

Giving up her role as landlady?
Kelly Osbourne has parted with her house in Hollywood Hills West for $1.3 million.
Designed by Robert Byrd and built in 1952, the recently updated home has been tenant-occupied of late. It features a bar, a den/office, one bedroom and two bathrooms.
Despite the scant 1,250 square feet of living space, the stylishly appointed home has been rented out for as much as $4,600 a month.
The 29-year-old purple-haired singer/actress is the daughter of Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne. She gained fame for appearing on “The Osbournes,” which won an Emmy in 2002 for outstanding reality show. Keeping to the reality genre, Osbourne took a turn on “Dancing With the Stars” in 2009.
She has since been on “Life as We Know It” and “Are We There Yet?” She will be in the upcoming TV movie “Sharknado 2: The Second One” this summer. And she’s a regular on the E! channel show “Fashion Police.”
Osbourne bought the property, which has city views, in 2005 for $1.195 million, public records show.

A tribute to his travels
Huell Howser’s desert retreat in Twentynine Palms has sold for $650,000 in an all-cash deal that included an adjacent 71-acre parcel.
The proceeds from the sale of the late travelogue host’s property benefit an endowed scholarship and Howser archives at Chapman University in Orange.
There were multiple offers on the remodeled Midcentury Modern home, which has 2,221 square feet of living space and sits on 12 acres.
During Howser’s 15-plus years of ownership, he added such industrial details as concrete kitchen counters and floors, stainless steel baseboards and a master bathroom sink made from a vintage streetlight fixture.
The 1953 house features walls of glass and a wood-burning fireplace in the living room, a breakfast bar, two bedrooms, a den/office and 2.5 bathrooms.
A swimming pool, a spa and sculpture gardens of found objects from his travels are among exterior amenities.
Howser died last year at 67. He is remembered for his more than two-decade-long television series “California’s Gold,” which took viewers to locales throughout the state.
