Hollywood Hills West home where John Lennon lived sells for $4.2 million
A contemporary house in the Hollywood Hills West “bird streets” area where Beatle John Lennon once landed has sold, again, for $4.2 million. It had previously changed hands in April, also for $4.2 million.
The seller, from the United Kingdom, had always wanted a home in L.A. but realized after his purchase that he would never use it, said Jon Hamner of Coldwell Banker’s Beverly Hills North office, who represented the buyer.

John Lennon and May Pang never lived at the Hollywood Hills West home, Pang confirmed. The address is erroneously associated with the former Beatle in several databases.
Lennon and companion May Pang lived at the location and several others during his 18-month “Lost Weekend” separation from Yoko Ono in the mid-70s, according to sources including the Movieland Directory. Los Angeles Times classifieds from August 1974 advertised the house for sale at $225,000 or for lease at $2,500 a month furnished.
The four-bedroom, four-bathroom house made Times headlines in late 1974 as the site of a police raid in which nine partyers were arrested on drug and gambling charges. Features of the 4,520-square-foot home, built in 1965, included high ceilings and a step-down living room, which remain today.
Judy Ross-Bunnage of Coldwell Banker’s Beverly Hills South office was the listing agent. Hamner said the property’s celebrity pedigree was not a factor in his client’s decision to buy the house.
