Described as an "old world hacienda," the main house features hand-painted details, stone and hardwood floors, several fireplaces, six bedrooms and 51/2 bathrooms. The master suite has a sitting room with one of the fireplaces and two walk-in closets. The property includes three self-contained guesthouses, a two-story entertainment pavilion with a kitchen and fireplace, a separate media room, a gym, a lighted tennis court, a swimming pool, a spa and mature pepper, oak and avocado trees.

The Gibsons, who were married in 1980, bought the property from singer-songwriter

and his wife,


in 1989 for close to its listing price of $3 million, according to L.A. Times archives. Springfield, 63, won a Grammy in 1981 for his hit "Jessie's Girl."

Ellen Francisco of Coldwell Banker's Malibu West office was the listing agent, according to the Multiple Listing Service. Christopher Cortazzo of the same office represented the buyers.
