Best Buy and AT&T have rolled out large discounts on the Galaxy Gear, leading some to believe that Samsung may unveil a new version of its smartwatch later this month.

The lime green, gold, orange and beige versions of the Galaxy Gear are off 50% at Best Buy on Friday only. The discount brings the price of those Galaxy Gear versions down to $149.99. Other versions of the Galaxy Gear are also on sale with $50 off at Best Buy.

At AT&T, customers who have purchased a Galaxy Gear-compatible Samsung device -- such as a Galaxy Note 3 or the Galaxy S4 -- from the carrier can get $100 off the Galaxy Gear, bringing its price down to $199. AT&T said the discount, available only in stores, applies for the rest of the Galaxy Gear’s existence.

The large discounts come a few weeks before the Mobile World Congress conference in Spain, where Samsung will hold an event. The South Korean company is expected to unveil a few new devices, and many speculate that the company will announce a second version of the Galaxy Gear.

The Samsung Galaxy Gear was unveiled in September, making the announcement of a new Galaxy Gear unusual, considering it’s only been around a few months. But it wouldn’t be a total surprise.

Over the last few months there have been multiple reports that said a second Galaxy Gear would arrive in the early part of 2014.
