LAS VEGAS -- There is something new to see and try in every direction you look at the Consumer Electronics Show.

On Day 2 of CES, the Los Angeles Times tech team tried out dozens of devices and gadgets that allegedly improve your life in one way or another. We narrowed down our list of devices to the useful, the practical and the fun. Here are our favorite devices from CES, Day 2. Check out our video demos for each device including a 3-D printing pen, a telecommuting tool, iris recognition software, a midi guitar and a lifestyle monitor.

The 3Doodler is billed as the world's first 3-D printing pen. The project, which began on Kickstarter, has already shipped 20,000 units to those who donated. It works by heating and melting a corn-based plastic that sets almost instantly. The pen will be hitting retail stores in the spring.

Need to be in two places at once? Double Robotics has you covered. The robot is used for telecommuting from anywhere and connects to any iOS device.

Want a little added security? Use your eyes. Hoyos ID scans your iris and instantly allows you access to your phone, apps and favorite websites.

Jamstik is a midi guitar and controller in one. Learn to play with its tutorial app or record your next hit using the device.

The Up24 follows you around, you guessed it, 24 hours a day. The bracelet and corresponding app track your meals, your movement, your sleep and even your mood.

Does your basketball game need a little help? The 94Fifty basketball comes with nine sensors inside that track your dibble speed, shot arc and more to help you improve on the court.
