Madonna rides the ‘Gangnam Style’ pony, performs with Psy in N.Y.

Britney Spears did it. Google CEO Eric Schmidt did it. And Tuesday night, at Madison Square Garden, Madonna did it too.

The 54-year-old Material Girl invited Psy up on stage to perform his international hit “Gangnam Style” and showed the world her best horsey dance moves.

Our verdict? Madonna can dance, but when it comes to that side-stepping, reign-holding, horse dance, she’s got nothing on Psy. That guy is smooth.

The Associated Press reports that Psy flew in from Frankfurt, Germany, on Tuesday morning to appear with the Madonna. He was dressed in a perfectly tailored red suit and shades. Madonna said she liked his threads.

What I liked about their performance was its not-perfectly-choreographed feel. At one point Madonna crawls kind of clumsily underneath Psy’s legs while he sings. Later, he crawls beneath her legs and she kind of rides him like a pony. I’m all for goofy Madonna.

As for Psy -- we’re just hoping he’s holding up OK. It’s been a wild ride for the K-Pop singer ever since his “Gangnam Style” song went viral on YouTube this summer. In just four months the video has racked up more than 720 million views making it the second most-viewed video of all time on YouTube. (Justin Bieber’s “Baby” featuring Ludacris is currently the all-time most popular video on the site with close to 800 million views).

If you wish you were among the 20,000 people at the Madonna concert who got to watch Psy do his thing, take heart: He has scheduled several tour dates in the U.S. in December and January.
