Irvine company seeks funding for first voice-command watch

Share

An Irvine company seeking start-up money through the Kickstarter online site said it has developed the world’s first voice-command watches.

Called Martian Watches, the devices connect to your smartphone. But unlike other smart watches, Martian also lets you connect with your smartphone’s voice assistant.

With the Martian, you can make calls, send and receive text messages, listen to music, check the weather and do any other tasks your phone’s voice assistant can do that doesn’t require you to look at the phone’s screen.

The watch connects with your phone via Bluetooth just like any other headset, but its abilities are limited by the type of phone you have. If you have an iPhone 4S, you’ll essentially be using Siri but through your watch. The watches also work with Androids, but you may have to install the Martian Watch’s app to access some features.

Martian has been on Kickstarter for more than a week now and still has a little more than a month left to raise money. By Monday morning, the project had received $90,622 in backing, but it’s still a long way from its $200,000 goal.

You can get early-bird specials on the phones right now if you back the project on Kickstarter. For $95 you can get a G2G Martian, the least expensive model. The Victory model goes for $110, and the Martian Passport for $120. You can see the three models here.

Prices will go up if people back Martian, and they will become significantly higher if the project gets funded. These watches also can be seen on Kickstarter and below in this video the company put together.
