Pandora hoping to push back iTunes Radio with alarm clock feature

Share

Pandora has added a new alarm clock feature to the Apple iOS version of its mobile app to give users another reason to keep using its app and not Apple’s iTunes Radio.

For the last few years, Pandora has been the unquestioned king of Internet radio, but this year, Apple rolled out iTunes Radio, a clone service that could threaten Pandora’s business.

The new alarm clock feature is a way for Pandora to stay ahead of iTunes Radio, which currently does not offer anything similar.

To use the new feature, make sure you download the latest version of the Pandora app for Apple iOS.

Once the update is downloaded, open the app and tap on the three-line icon at the top left of the screen. At the bottom of the menu, tap “Alarm Clock.” On the next screen, simply set the time you want to wake up at and choose the radio station you want Pandora to play.

Pandora will then prompt you to connect your Apple device to a charging cable. For the feature to work, you must also leave your device on the Pandora app throughout the night.

Once the alarm goes off, users can choose to stop it or hit snooze, as with any alarm clock.
