Verizon is taking preorders for Samsung Galaxy Note II
Verizon has begun taking preorders for the Samsung Galaxy Note II, joining three other major U.S. networks now selling the 5.5-inch phone/tablet hybrid device.
The Galaxy Note II is Samsung’s largest phone -- bigger than the 4.8-inch Galaxy S III -- and the follow-up to the widely successful Galaxy Note, which made its world debut last year.
The phone/tablet hybrid runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, uses a 1.6GHz quad-core Exynos processor and has an 8-megapixel rear camera. It also comes with Samsung’s S Pen stylus.
Verizon is selling a 16 GB version of the phone, with the Verizon logo branded on the device’s home button, for $299.99 on a new contract. The phone comes in titanium gray or marble white and shipments to consumers are expected to arrive by Nov. 27, according to Verizon’s website.
Sprint also today began selling the device for the same price as Verizon. That comes one day after the device launched on T-Mobile, which sells the phone for more than its competitors.
AT&T; also began taking preorders for the device Thursday. It too sells the phone for $299.99 on a new contract, but its version of the phone is expected to ship and start selling in stores Nov. 9.
