He tried out the colorful iPhone 5C, which has a plastic shell and is available in five colors. What stood out to O’Brien was that the lightweight device still felt sturdy -- like it would survive a drop-it-on-the-floor test. (He held himself back from testing that theory.)
As pretty as the iPhone 5C is to look at, the $99 phone is missing some features that are exclusive to the more expensive iPhone 5S.
When O’Brien tried out the iPhone 5S, those features -- the True ID fingerprint sensor and the advanced camera -- also left a good first impression.
In his video, O’Brien unlocks the iPhone 5S by laying his finger on the home button, which scans his fingerprint. He also used the device to record a video in slow motion, one of the new modes available on the iPhone 5S.
O’Brien also makes note of the new A7 processor inside the iPhone 5S, which allowed him to jump from app to app in quick fashion.
Toward the end of the video, O’Brien showcases the new “gold” shell available for the iPhone 5S, which also comes in black or white.
The iPhone 5S starts at $199 with a two-year contract. Both new iPhones go on sale in stores Sept. 20.
