Cubs send Justin Berg to minors, outright Diamond

To make room for Saturday starter Doug Davis on their roster, the Chicago Cubs sent reliever Justin Berg to AAA Iowa and outrighted pitcher Thomas Diamond off the 40-man roster.

Berg had no record and a 4.09 ERA in six appearances with the Cubs this season after beginning April in Iowa. Diamond was 0-3 with a 9.42 ERA in five starts at Iowa after spending the final part of 2010 with the Cubs.
