Football Roundup: Markiewicz hits 200 in Wildcats' win

ARUNDEL 55, CHESAPEAKE 20:

Jack Gordon completed 10 passes for 169 yards and four touchdowns as the Wildcats stayed unbeaten with a victory over the Cougars.

Arundel's win is coach Chuck Markiewicz's 200th. The Wildcats also clinched the No. 1 seed in the Class 4A East Region playoffs.

Aaron Lewis-Cenales caught six passes for 78 yards and two touchdowns, and Tyler Young had four catches for 89 yards and a touchdown for Arundel. Adam Snyder recovered a fumble for a touchdown in the second quarter and ran back a pick in the third.

Brandon Blanchard threw for 200 yards with two touchdowns and also ran for a score for the Cougars. Aaron Terry was his favorite target with six catches for a game-high 153 yards and two touchdowns.

Adam Greene kicked his first ever winning field goal, a 24-yarder -- following a clutch drive led by backup sophomore quarterback Canaan Gebele -- to lift the Bruins over the Bulldogs.

Broadneck led, 28-6, at halftime, but Southern came back in the fourth quarter on consecutive rushing touchdowns by DeJuan Neal, Malique Pratt and Corey Contee to tie it before Greene sealed the Bruins' win.

Duke Carter rushed 22 times for 87 yards and a score, and Grant Hudson completed five passes for 50 yards and a touchdown for Broadneck. Zach Franco caught three passes for 91 yards, and Jeremy Ross had a 31-yard touchdown reception.

Neal rushed for 154 yards and two scores on 25 carries.

Marcus Smith threw for 187 yards and three touchdowns, including two to Anthony Watkins, as the Mustangs shut out the Falcons en route to their fifth consecutive victory.

Smith threw a 13-yard pass to Daivon Nixon in the first quarter for a 13-0 lead and connected with Watkins for one from 30 during the second. Watkins, who finished with four receptions and 102 yards, caught a touchdown pass from Tyree Turner to make it 33-0 before halftime. Smith and Watkins connected again for a 40-yard pass in the fourth.

Derrick Souder rushed for a first-quarter touchdown, and Kyle Evans ran for 54 yards and a touchdown.

Bobby Heim had two of Kent Island's six sacks, and D.J. Plumer rushed 13 times for 113 yards, a touchdown and an interception. Matt Tayman had an interception for the Buccaneers (9-0), who clinched a spot in the Class 2A East Region playoffs and are 9-0 for the third straight season.

SEVERN 41, MOUNT CARMEL 0:

Ben Priddy threw three touchdowns and ran for another to lead the Admirals to a victory over the Cougars. Jarid Ryan caught three touchdowns, and Brett Bedard scored on a 48-yard run.

Ryan caught two 12-yard passes from Priddy for scores in the second quarter after returning an interception 75 yards to build a 14-0 lead.
