When labs falter

THE ACCUSED: HAROLD HILL Harold Hill was convicted of a 1990 Chicago rape and murder, but DNA tests in recent years have excluded him, turning up two other genetic profiles. This year, the state police's Chicago crime lab was asked to examine clothes for additional DNA evidence. The lab said its tests found none, but a private lab reported finding DNA evidence on the clothes. His case is being reinvestigated.
