A male employee in Manteno was shot this afternoon in a company warehouse and police were searching for the gunman who also is believed to be an employee, Kankakee County sheriff's officials said.
Officials received a call about the shooting which they said occurred at a warehouse facility at 1125 W. Sycamore Rd., at 1:53 p.m., said Kankakee County Sheriff Chief Deputy Ken McCabe.
Officials originally said the incident occured at aTyson Foods Inc., plant but Tyson officials said they do not own or operate a facility in that location.
The call came about shots being fired at the location. A male employee in the plant was reported shot and another employee who is suspected in the shooting quickly fled the scene, said McCabe.
The victim was taken to Provena St. Mary's Hospital in Kankakee for treatment, said McCabe. The victim's condition was not available but McCabe said the man was alive.
No other information was available.
