Chicago collectors, 1920

Bequests from Chicago collectors such as Martin Ryerson (left), shown visiting Claude Monet in the artists's garden in Giverny, France, in 1920, provided the Art Institute with many major works. Monet's art has been the subject of three of the ten best-attended shows in the institute's history.
