A Chicago police officer and a female civilian were taken taken to area hospitals after being injured in a high-rise fire in the Uptown neighborhood this afternoon.
One civilian and one police officer were taken by paramedics from the scene of the fire on the 1000 block of West Lawrence Avenue, fire media said a little before 1:30 p.m.
The police officer sustained minor smoke inhalation and was taken to Swedish Covenant Hospital in good condition, said Police News Affairs Officer Robert Perez.
A second police officer was treated and released at the scene, Perez said.
A woman was taken to Weiss Memorial Hospital in good condition after being injured after sustaining a fall, authorities said.
The still-alarm fire was in a fifth-floor apartment at the building, fire media said.Copyright © 2014, Los Angeles Times
