Snoop Dogg

Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr. As you find yourself wondering where Snoop Dogg came from in the roots of the rapper's real name, it's worth noting that in a genre that turns over performers in a here-today-gone-tomorrow frenzy, Snoop Dogg has been doing his thing since 1992. From gang affiliations and drug charges to multiplatinum recordings, fatherhood and a newfound passion for soccer, the guy who fans just call "Snoop" remains relevant. He also has done Bollywood and retains street cred despite having duetted with Katy Perry. He's given voice to a white pimp (Alabaster Jones) on the Fox animated show "King of the Hill" -- and, oh yes, has made some remarkable tunes, such as the astounding "Imagine" collaboration with Dr. Dre. So go see him, already. 11 p.m. Friday, House of Blues, 329 N. Dearborn. $49.50; livenation.com
