Seven performances, Oct. 6-30 The season opener will be "Elektra," a Strauss work Lyric has not staged since 1992. Scottish director David McVicar, who was responsible for several of the most successful Lyric productions of recent years, is the director. Davis conducts, and the designers are John Macfarlane (sets and costumes) and Jennifer Tipton (lighting). American soprano Christine Goerke will take on the formidably difficult title role, in her Lyric debut. Emily Magee will sing Chrysosthemis, and Jill Grove will portray Clytemnestra. Alan Held sings Orestes and Roger Honeywell is Aegisthus. Martin Wright will make his debut as Lyric¿s chorus master.
