Have your own Winter Games

The Olympics is all about ice skating, right? Right? Sure seems like it, and just in time for the holiday fun stuff, guess what's opening? The Millennium Park ice rink. There are a great many pairs of ice skates in a great many basements. Some are tossed into a corner, others have those little blade guards on them, and still others are in purpose-built cases. It's those last folks who vex us the most, because while most of us totter along on rented skates ($10 at Millennium Park), those people roll out to spin, twirl, jump and, in general, make fools out of us civilians. And every now and again, they give us the great joy of falling down. Hours vary, Michigan Avenue and Randolph Street. Free; millenniumpark.org
