Nathan Murphy, 5, steadies himself as a nurse administers a nasal H1N1 flu vaccination at a Champaign-Urbana Public Health District clinic. The drive-through H1N1 flu immunization clinics proved popular in the community. The first such clinic attracted more people for vaccinations in its first hour of operation than the average standard clinic usually draws in a day. The health district has been preparing for a pandemic such as swine flu for five years, perfecting the process with seasonal flu drive-through clinics. The program has been so successful that officials at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta held it up as a model.
