8 injured in crash involving CTA bus on South Side

Eight people were injured this afternoon in a crash involving a CTA bus in the city's Bronzeville neighborhood on the South Side.

According to preliminary information, a No. 3 King Drive bus was northbound about 1:12 p.m. on King Drive when a vehicle crashed into it while it was crossing 43rd Street, according to a CTA spokeswoman.

The vehicle was traveling westbound on 43rd Street, she said.

Eight passengers on the bus were taken to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries, she said, citing preliminary information.

The injured were taken to Mercy Hospital and Medical Center, the University of Chicago Hospitals and Saint Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center, according to Fire Media information.

There was no immediate information available about the crash from police.
