Smoke pours from a condominium building at 260 E. Chestnut St. in Chicago after a fire broke out early in the morning. An 84-year-old woman, Beata Bihl, who lived on the 36th floor, died in the fire. About 300 firefighters responded. A preliminary report at 260 E. Chestnut St. concluded the cause of the fire was accidental. The Office of Fire Investigations believes the fire began in 3601, where Beata Bihl was found near her front door as she apparently tried to escape.
