Authorities found a dead dog and several others that were emaciated when they evicted a Harvey man Thursday.
The dead dog was found in the basement of the house in the 0-100 block of West 151st Street in the south suburb, and another dog could not walk because of a leg injury, the Cook County sheriff's office said.
Another emaciated dog was found in a crate outside of the home, authorities. Five other dogs appeared to be in better condition, the office said.
William Roberson, 37, was charged with two counts of felony aggravated cruelty to animals and nine misdemeanors -- one count of cruelty to animals and eight counts involving owner's duties, according to the Cook County sheriff's police.
The dogs -- seven pit bull-type dogs and a Chihuahua -- were discovered when an evictions team arrived at Roberson's home Thursday, the sheriff's office said.
The South Suburban Humane Society took custody of the dogs.
