A 32-year-old man was killed when the car he was driving struck a light pole and rolled over on the Southwest Side early Saturday, authorities said.
About 3 a.m., first responders found someone trapped inside a rolled-over Mercury Sable in the 3100 block of South Western Avenue, Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said.
The car's sole occupant, later identified as Delmond Strong of the 3600 block of West Polk Street, was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital and pronounced dead at 3:32 a.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
Police believe Strong struck a light pole after losing control of the Sable as it traveled northbound, Greer said.
Following the crash, the CTA rerouted northbound Western 49 buses.
