Firing Angelo: This was the best thing the Bears could do in a move linked to Chairman George McCaskey. General manager Jerry Angelo couldnt draft well enough to hide the major coaching shortcomings of Lovie Smith. Angelo had his ups and downs but a series of bad drafts put the club in a position where it has had to pay big in free agency. The Bears have been handicapped this season by an offensive line Angelo left in tatters as he refused to stock the position through the draft and then missed on a pick like Chris Williams with another first rounder Gabe Carimi struggling coming off a knee injury.
