Winger Viktor Stalberg and defenseman Chris Campoli of the Chicago Blackhawks were among 23 NHL players who filed for salary arbitration Tuesday.
The players are restricted free agents and general manager Stan Bowman has been negotiating with their agents in an effort to sign them to contracts. Last week, Bowman expressed confidence he would get Stalberg and Campoli, along with Michael Frolik--who isn't arbitration eligible--signed to deals.
NHL arbitration hearings will be held in Toronto from July 20 to Aug.4.
Last season, the Hawks and Antti Niemi went to arbitration and after the goaltender was awarded a $2.75 million one-year deal, the Hawks let him walk as a free agent.
Campoli and Stalberg can still reach agreement with the Hawks prior to the arbitration hearings.Copyright © 2014, Los Angeles Times
