An investigation continues today into the death of a 4-year-old Indiana boy who appears to have accidentally shot himself at a liquor store in south suburban Beecher, according to police.
The boy, Ash Wimbley, was discovered Thursday morning at Tubby's Wine and Spirits at 311 Dixie Highway in Beecher, officials said.
The boy, of Cedar Lake, was taken to St. James Hospital and Health Centers in Chicago Heights, where he was pronounced dead at 2:12 p.m., the spokesman said.
The boy apparently found a loaded handgun behind a store counter, a police source said. The shooting was under investigation by the Beecher Police Department.
