A Broadview village trustee was charged with forgery after allegedly falsifying her pay stubs to get a car loan, authorities said today.
Judy Hargrett, 35, of
also was charged with loan fraud and official misconduct, according to a news release from Cook County State’s Attorney’s office.
Prosecutors said that Hargrett went to a Broadview car dealership with a family member last March to buy a used car. During the sales process, Hargrett allegedly provided two pay stubs to provide proof of income, according to the release.
Hargrett is accused of falsely indicating her income as $2,800 a month on her application, not the correct amount of $300 a month, according to the news release. It also was determined the payroll stubs were not legitimate, the release states.
“The fraud was discovered when a representative from the loan finance company contacted a village clerk in Broadview to verify Hargrett’s income,” the release says.
Hargrett, who was in court today, was given a personal recognizance bond.
