Naperville gymnast Mackenzie Caquatto's chance to make the U.S. teams for either the upcoming World Championships or Pan American Games ended with an ankle injury.
Caquatto, 19, sustained a bilateral sprain, hurting both ankles, on a balance beam landing Monday during a selection camp at the Karolyi Ranch outside Houston. She is back in Naperville and expected to return soon to the University of Florida, where she is a sophomore.
USA Gymnastics is to name the women's teams for both meets Wednesday night.
Mackenzie's younger sister, Bridgette, 17, was named to the Pan Am Games team while Anna Li, 21, of Aurora made the world team.
The world meet is Oct. 7-16 in Tokyo and the Pan Am Games gymnastics competition is Oct. 24-29 in Guadalajara, Mexico.
Caquatto finished second on uneven bars and fourth all-around in this year's U.S. Championships.
She won a silver medal in the team event at the 2010 worlds.
