4 hurt in single-car crash on South Side

A small black car smashed into a light pole in the Washington Park neighborhood early Saturday morning, leaving two people in serious-to-critical condition, authorities said. 

Two people were taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County in serious-to-critical condition and two others were taken from the scene in fair-to-serious condition - one to Jackson Park Hospital and one to Saint Bernard Hospital. 

The car appeared to be traveling west on 63rd Street about 2:20 a.m. when it hit a pole on the north side of 63rd just east of Michigan Avenue. The impact shook the lamp above loose, where it dangled over the wreckage below.
