Sheriff’s police have arrested a
man who allegedly tried to arrange a tryst with a person he thought was a teenage prostitute.
A judge Friday set bail at $350,000 for Frank Descetto, 60, on charges of patronizing a minor engaged in prostitution, solicitation of a sexual act and attempted aggravated criminal sexual abuse.
After hearing a tip that Descetto was interested in engaging in sex with a 15- or 16-year-old girl, two undercover sheriff’s officers -– one posing as a pimp and the other as a prostitute -- set up a meeting with him at the
Square Mall in Bloomingdale to negotiate terms, DuPage County Assistant State’s Atty. Demetri Demopolous said at Descetto’s bond hearing.
After he was taken into custody, police searched his residence and found the $500 he promised to pay for spending the night with the girl, Demopolous said.
Descetto reportedly told police officers that he had spent $30,000 on meetings with adult prostitutes the previous year, the prosecutor said.
“This is a hobby of his that has now taken a deviant turn,” Demopolous told Judge Michael Wolfe.
