The current Asolo Theatre production of "My Fair Lady," directed in Sarasota, Fla., by Frank Galati, is filled with a plethora of Chicago creative types.
According to the theater, musical direction is by Doug Peck and costumes are by Mara Blumenfeld. The lead role of Eliza Doolittle is played by Andrea Prestinario (who just played that very role at the Paramount Theatre in Aurora), while Jeff Parker is Henry Higgins.
Other familiar names in the show include Rob Lindley, Peggy Roeder, Sean Effinger-Dean, Penny Slusher, Joel Hatch and Carol Kuykendall. "My Fair Lady" opened Friday and plays through Dec. 23.
It's a two-piano version. In his review Saturday, Jay Handelman of the Sarasota Herald-Tribune called the production"stunning."
"I found myself hearing lines as if for the first time," the critic wrote.Copyright © 2015, Los Angeles Times
