An 18-year-old man and 17-year-old boy were among four people wounded in shootings on the South and West sides since Wednesday afternoon, police said.
The older of the teens was shot about 6:10 p.m. in the 5600 block of South Wood Street, Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines said. He was taken Stroger Hospital in critical condition with a wound to his neck, Gaines said.
The 17-year-old was shot in both legs around 5:15 p.m. Wednesday in the 900 block of West 50th Street in the Back of the Yards neighborhood, police News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala said. He was also taken to Stroger hospital but his condition wasn't available.
A 54-year-old man was shot about 12:18 a.m. in the 700 block of East 79th Street, Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines said. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center.
A 27-year-old passenger of a dark-colored Chevy car was shot during a carjacking in the Austin neighborhood about 10:35 p.m., Gaines said.
He and the driver of the car were ordered out near Race and Laramie avenues, and the 27-year-old was shot. Someone drove him to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park and he was transferred to Stroger Hospital, Gaines said. He had been shot in the chest.
